Our aim is to find and retain lawyers with top qualifications and the ability to blend personally with our teams. For this purpose, we have put together a "package" that enables job beginners to achieve their career goals independently, while at the same time offering support where appropriate.
Besides market-oriented compensation geared to your qualifications as a newcomer, we offer you a tailored training program, regular staff appraisals to help assess your current skills, as well as a career development you will find nowhere outside of BEITEN BURKHARDT.
When you begin your work for BEITEN BURKHARDT, you will be assigned to one or more experienced partner(s) to provide you with professional and personal support. Your work will be focused on a field of law in which you wish to increase your specialist knowledge, however, without interfering with your interdisciplinary training. During this stage of your training, you will also have the chance to spend some time working abroad at one of our own offices or those of one of our local partner law firms.
We consider it very important to give each individual working for us a clear idea of their career prospects as early as possible. Our annual evaluations are there to help you analyze and assess your professional and personal potential together with our partners. Thus, you will always be aware of your own position on your career ladder, you will know which goals you have already reached, where there may be room for imprvement and which new goals you can set for yourself.
This could be your career development at BEITEN BURKHARDT:
After joining the firm as a job beginner, you begin work as a salaried lawyer, or associate – a position you will hold for a period of five years. You have the courage to get in "at the deep end" and learn to swim in a legal environment by gaining hands-on experience and making use of our internal training program. You are quick to seek experience in your first client contacts and are constantly faced with new challenges. Tight deadlines and living up to the high standards we set for the quality of your work and dedication are all in a day's work to you.
After the first two or three years, you will have the necessary knowledge and experience to support your own clients, generate new business and see it through to a successful end. At this stage, your mentoring partners will also be there to offer support and give regular qualified feedback on the quality of your work and personal development.
After your five year term as an associate, we will decide whether you are ready to become a salary partner. The qualifications for this partner status include personal integrity, the ability to work in a team, your acceptance by colleagues and clients, excellent know-how, maximum motivation and adequate performance (which includes, but is not exclusively measured in terms of your contribution towards business volume/profit). As a salary partner, you will receive a fixed salary, supplemented by a variable, performance-related compensation component.
After a further three-year period as a salary partner, all partners will reach a joint decision on your future development. There are three alternatives: Depending on your performance, you may retain your salary partner status, be promoted to senior salary partner, or become an equity partner – one of the firm's shareholders.
