Investments in Germany
Germany is at the very heart of the EU, and is one of the most important markets in the world. All sectors of the German economy are open to foreign investments, and the brand ”Made in Germany” is acknowledged throughout the world as a hallmark of quality. Germany offers a secure environment for investment, with the spirit of innovation, a solid infrastructure, attractive investment support programmes, and a highly skilled workforce, which includes several waves of immigrants from Eastern Europe who have brought with them a good knowledge of East European languages. Many German family businesses are faced with the task of handing over to a new generation, and this offers potential investors a very favourable opportunity of entering the market.
The Eastern Europe Desk
1. What is our Eastern Europe Desk?
BEITEN BURKHARDT has concentrated its wide-ranging experience in German, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian commercial law into a single centre of excellence – the Eastern Europe Desk. The purpose of our Eastern Europe Desk is to offer advice to investors from Eastern Europe, including Russia, who are planning to enter the German and EU markets. This advice is based on our comprehensive experience and local knowledge, and is tailored to the requirements of each client. Our long-standing presence in Eastern Europe has enabled us to establish a partner network which embraces the entire region, and clients can access our expertise through our partners.
2. Who can use the services of our Eastern Europe Desk?
The Eastern Europe Desk can be used by companies from Poland, Russia and Ukraine, as well as other countries in the region, which are already active in the German or EU markets, or which are planning to expand into Europe. Our Eastern Europe Desk can also act as the first port of call for advice on Polish, Ukrainian and Russian law. Projects will be handled by our offices in Warsaw, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kyiv. You can also submit enquiries to our Eastern Europe Desk about investment conditions in the countries of Eastern Europe where we do not have our own offices. Replies to such questions will be provided in cooperation with our partner offices in the region.
3. Contacts
Our experts in the Eastern Europe Desk have acquired vast experience over many years of working in local markets, and they specialise in providing advice to East European businesses in Germany. Advice can be given in Russian, Polish, English and German regarding market entry, setting up joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and also for financing, real estate transactions and entering the German capital markets (including IPOs, private placements and listings). Where necessary we call on the services of our colleagues in BEITEN BURKHARDT’s five German offices, who specialise in other areas of law, such as employment and migration law, IP/IT/Media, public law and public procurement.
